The Baking Nook
This little corner keeps the things I use for baking close by while still giving me room to decorate. The canisters, boards, trays, and risers can stay throughout the year; the flowers, tea towels, and seasonal pieces are what change.
Pretty & Functional
This little corner has to work hard, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty. I layer cutting boards and trays when they aren’t being used, lift the canisters on little DIY risers, and keep a glass cutting board close by to catch the spills and make cleanup easier. The useful pieces stay out, and the seasonal details change around them.
Canisters
Who doesn’t want pretty canisters on the counter? Whether you like to change yours with the seasons or choose a design you can leave out all year, there are plenty of options to make your baking nook feel like your own.
Canisters for the Everyday Essentials
These canisters hold the things I reach for every day—oatmeal, shredded coconut, sea salt, baking soda, and baking powder. The different sizes keep everything close by, and because they look pretty on the counter, I don’t have to tuck them away when the baking is done.
Functional & Part of the Decorating
Cutting boards are easy to decorate with because they already belong in the kitchen. I layer the wood ones in baskets, and use DIY risers to give the canisters and seasonal pieces a little height. When I need them, they’re close by; when I don’t, they create a pretty backdrop for the nook.
Pretty Protection for the Counter
I keep a glass cutting board in the baking nook to catch flour, drips, and all the little spills that come with baking. It makes cleanup easier while adding another pretty design to the counter.
Wood & Glass Cutting Boards
Some cutting boards are made for the work of baking, while others become part of the backdrop. I keep glass boards close for messy jobs and layer my wood boards into the decorating when they aren’t being used.
Everyday Kitchen Details
The little things I keep close by are often the ones I use the most. Spoon rests, trivets, and tea towels each have a practical job to do, but they also bring another pretty detail to the baking nook.
A Place for the Spoon
A spoon rest keeps drips off the counter while I’m baking, but it also adds a little colour beside the mixer or stove. It’s one of those useful pieces that can stay out and still look pretty.
Pretty and Practical Trivets
I keep trivets close for warm bowls and baking dishes, but they’re just as lovely layered beneath a canister or propped against the backsplash when they aren’t being used.
Tea Towels Within Reach
A pretty tea towel is always useful for wiping my hands or cleaning up a quick spill. I hang them from hooks, drape one over the mixer bowl, or hang them from a cupboard handle, to bring in a little seasonal colour.
The Baking Nook Through The Seasons
The pieces I use for baking stay much the same, but the little details change with the seasons. A few new colours, florals, and simple decorations are often all it takes to give this corner a completely different look.
